１月２４日(土)からニュージーランドのクライストチャーチ市での中期留学(約3ヶ月)に参加している生徒たちの留学レポートです。今回は現地到着やホストファミリーとの出会い、クライストチャーチ市内でのオリエンテーション(市内観光を含む)や留学先の学校への初登校など、たくさんの新鮮な出来事との出会いがあったようです。

I was surprised at the differences of life style between Japan and New Zealand such as the manner for having meals and washing clothes. I was also shocked that there are many people walking across the road because of no traffic signals. Our school started from this Thursday. I was so nervous because there is no Japanese student in my class. But I tried to speak to my classmates, and I could make friends with them. My first school day was very hard, but it was so fruitful time.

(食事や洗濯の仕方など、日本とニュージーランドの生活習慣の違いに驚きました。信号がないので、道路を横断する人が多いのにも驚きました。今週の木曜日から学校が始まりました。クラスに日本人の生徒が一人もいなかったので、とても緊張しました。でも、クラスメイトに話しかけてみたら、すぐに仲良くなれました。初めての登校日はとても大変でしたが、とても充実した1日でした。)

It’s been about a week since I arrived in NZ. On my first day here, I was completely overwhelmed with nerves, excitement and anxiety. But my host family was so kind to me, and my nerves and worries melted away quickly. I was restless on the first day, but orientation started the next day. Getting to know lots of international students and local students gave me some breathing room, and I started to feel like I could enjoy myself. Since classes started, everything is completely in English and my head feels like it might explode, but there are different kinds of fun here compared to Japan (like morning tea, the freedom, elective classes, etc.). I’m enjoying myself without any anxiety or nerves! On the weekend, I went out with my host s ister! She’s kind, we have similar tastes, and I love her!!! It’s only been a week since I arrived, but no matter what happens from now on, I want to keep smiling, be myself and have fun!!

(ニュージーランドに来て約1週間が経ちました。初日は緊張や興奮、そして不安でいっぱいでした。でも、ホストファミリーがとても優しく接してくれたので、不安や心配はすぐに吹き飛びました。初日は落ち着かなかったのですが、翌日からオリエンテーションが始まりました。たくさんの留学生や地元の学生と知り合うことで、余裕が生まれ、少しずつ楽しく過ごせるようになりました。授業が始まってからは全て英語で、頭が爆発しそうになるくらいでしたが、モーニングティーや自由さ、選択授業など日本とは違う楽しさがあります。不安や緊張は 全くなく、楽しんでいます！週末はホストシスターと遊びに行きました！彼女は優しくて、趣味も似ていて、大好きです！まだ1週間しか経っていませんが、これから何があっても、笑顔で自分らしく、楽しく過ごしたいです！)
