The scientific analysis of modern economic themes such as finance, international affairs, environment and information

Field of Study

Such drastic changes as those seen in modern economies have never been seen before. It is therefore necessary to re-examine finance, international affairs, environmental problems, natural resource problems and the economic world. Current economic issues such as contemporary economic phenomena are emphasized along with traditional economic studies. The courses aim to teach how to scientifically analyze very complicated economic phenomena, using an empirical and statistical approach.

Policy

The Faculty aims to educate people who can analyze and understand the modern economy using information technology. In order to do so, students have to develop their ability to interpret many kinds of economic data. Students learn basic statistics and computer-facilitated data analysis. In addition to this, foreign language education including overseas language education programs are offered. Since this department was established in response to demands from the local business world and government, there is a wide range of career opportunities for students to explore.

Models of Degree Programs

Program which Emphasizes Micro and Macroeconomics
Group B subjects are studied in this course which focuses on basic and applied applications of micro and macroeconomics. There is an emphasis on the theoretical and metrical analysis of the economy through the study of microeconomics, macroeconomics, mathematical economics and econometrics. Information economics, a field of applied microeconomics, and environmental economics, a field of applied macroeconomics, are also studied. The course is useful for students who aim to be local and national public officials.

Program which Emphasizes Finance and the International Economy
Group C subjects are studied in this course which focuses on such areas as statistical and quantitative approaches, computers, and the international economy. There is an emphasis on the practical analysis of finance and the international economy through economic statistics, computer economics, monetary economics and international economics. The course is useful for students who want to work in financial businesses, international businesses and IT businesses.


Program which Emphasizes Economic Theories and Economic Policies
Group D subjects are studied in this course which focuses on traditional and basic fields of economic theory, history and policies. There is an emphasis on basic economic theory and students study about economics of consumption, industrial economics, public finance and economic policy. Through this they acquire the ability to comprehend and analyze economic policy and the role of the government. The course is useful for students who want to get a job in manufacturing, distribution, construction, education and mass communication.
